Mean duration of illness 3 days: Interventions: Amoxicillin‐clavulanic acid (375 mg 3 times a day for 5 days) versus identical‐looking placebo. In most cases, pneumonia can be successfully treated with antibiotics , and/or steroids and cough medications. Bronchitis is often viral and therefore will not require antibiotics, except in certain circumstances in patients with chronic lung disease.
